INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED ENGINEERING
The Materials and Components Research Division leads long-term technological development of advanced materials and components, with the goal of strengthening national industrial competitiveness and responding to future industrial demands. In particular, we identify core technologies addressing paradigm shifts across society, such as carbon neutrality, digital transformation, and future mobility, and focus on securing full-cycle technological capabilities through research and development centred on practical application.
Based on research areas such as functional composite materials, semiconductor and secondary battery-related materials, metal powders and special alloys, 3D printing-based manufacturing processes, waste recycling and carbon reduction technologies, and AI-based material design, the centre promotes the creation of high-value-added new materials through the integration of technologies.
Additionally, by supporting government R&D strategy formulation and industrial policy, the centre strengthens planning tasks and secures leading-edge technologies to take the lead in the development of future core materials.
